King Bob II 1/2

Yes, his name is King Bob (the second and a half). When creating the look of the character of King Bob, we had a couple of things to go on. First, the voice was already established. You can hear the King’s voice in this song - Chocolate. Also, his character had been developed to a point. He is the king. He’s a nice guy, a merry ole soul, but he’s still the king - quite self absorbed, oblivious to the events around him, a little quirky, and if you were to get on his bad side he could have you executed with a twist of his finger. Of course, that would be in extreme cases, and normally if the soon-to-be-executed could tell a good joke and make the King laugh, he would be released and even monetarily rewarded.

At any rate, based on the voice and character of the king, we were able to come up with the above look for King Bob II 1/2. We’ll go into further detail as to why we chose certain characteristics in later posts.

The Big Magic Book

We know it’s been a little while since our last pattern release, but that certainly hasn’t meant that things have slowed down at Project Puppet. We are currently working on custom puppets for a children’s television show pilot called The Big Magic Book. The premise of the show is, of course, a big magic book, which Ryan (the human character) opens at the beginning of the show and is reluctantly sucked into the world of the big magic book by WizBang the Wizard to help the cast of puppet characters with some dilemma that has recently occurred. The characters are strong, the music is great, and the stories are imaginative. Our hope is that the show will go far.

Here are a couple of clips of the music. Princess Chocolate teaches Ryan how to dance so he can out-dance the Guardian of the Bridge in the first song called Dance. The second clip is You Don’t Have To Sing Like A Star which basically encourages kids (and adults, for that matter) to make music the best way they know how.

We have permission from our client to share this information as well as to document and share photos and construction tips during the building of the puppet characters. One great thing is that a few of the characters are based on Project Puppet patterns. We’ll show you the revisions we made to the patterns to accomplish certain characteristics and/or features in the final puppet. Hopefully you will find our posts regarding The Big Magic Book helpful and creatively inspiring.
