Our Mission
Our mission at Project Puppet is to provide a solid foundation of hand puppet construction techniques for the aspiring puppeteer. It is also our purpose to make available supplies and materials that are basic to professional puppet building. We feel that with these resources at your fingertips, the sky is the limit.
Puppet Patterns
The puppet patterns and instructions at Project Puppet are designed to be specific enough to provide a reliable base for professional hand puppet creation, yet adaptable enough to allow for your personal creativity. Every one of our kits includes a full-sized pattern sheet that eliminates the need for any guesswork. Further, we are delighted to extend to you our one-piece pattern method! That's right, in our Forma Series, the puppets' heads and bodies are one pattern piece each. We feel the one-piece pattern system supports ease of construction and adaptability of the pattern itself. The instructions included in our kits, take you through the building process step-by-step with drawings, diagrams, and photos to use as visual aids.
Puppet Materials and Supplies
The great thing about most puppet supplies is that you can find them just about anywhere. Ping-pong balls become eyes, wire hangers become arm rods, and a bathroom rug on clearance becomes shaggy hair. However, there are some basic materials that puppet builders often use that aren't readily available at your local craft or hardware store. Some are very hard to find, some are quite expensive, and some can only be bought in bulk quantities. It is our wish to bring as many of these materials as possible to you at affordable prices.
Creativity
The best thing about building puppets is that in reality there are no rules. If it works - it works. Our hope is that you will use our patterns and instructions as a springboard for your creativity in producing your own original puppet characters.
