The Roly Puppet Pattern
Character: "Chester is a quiet guy and the total opposite of his best friend Buster. He doesn't like to be the center of attention and spends most of his time staring out the window and day dreaming. Some people think he's a bit of a space cadet. Chester has no desire to perform in front of his classmates but said he would like to help out back stage. I think he would make a great stagehand. He did mention though that before he would do this I needed to buy him a shirt." - Diann
Technical: "Chester was made using the Roly Pattern. I used light weight upholstery fabric for his body and 1/2 inch foam for the skull insert. His eyes are from a hard styrofoam ball cut in half and painted with tole paint. The center of the eye is a plastic doll eye. Chester's hair is made by sewing loops of yarn together and then cutting the loops open.Two layers of yarn loops were used. Instead of using the foam for the mouth I used two layers of velux fabric. I have found this works best for me." - Diann
